¿How can i make my external DVD-ROM boot from an old PC?

Posted by – Juni 26, 2010

I have a usb DVD-ROM and I want to install linux (CentOS) from a DVD image. Unfortunaly the PC doesn’t boot from the DVD-ROM:( Is there any way to hack the bios to make this work or do you know any other software that i can copy to a bootable CD or floppy disk to boot the installation from the DVD?????
The bios does not reconize the DVD-ROM because it is plugged on the usb. I only see IDE drives and the floopies. Only on windows it works.

Does your old PC bootable? Does you old PC read from DVD ROM? You may have to install the device to your old PC. Then you can bootup the PC, than run the linux installation from there.
