Simply format the drive or partition that Vista is installed on. You should be able to do this through Ubuntu, that way you can make that drive or partition the same file system as your current configuration (ext2 or ext3)

A proxy server is a server that services the requests of its clients by forwarding requests to other servers. You would need to know the address of the proxy server.

Typing uname -a will give you the linux kernel you are running. It may give information as to 32/64 bit. It will not give distro information.

Each distro handles this diffrently.

You can try these:
cat /proc/version
cat /etc/issue
lsb_release -a
egrep ‘^[^#]*title’ /boot/grub/menu.lst | grep -v ‘memtest’
cat /etc/*-release

Specifit to certain distro’s try looking inside these files:

Novell SuSE
/etc/SuSE-release

Red Hat
/etc/redhat-release, /etc/redhat_version

Fedora
/etc/fedora-release

Slackware
/etc/slackware-release, /etc/slackware-version

Debian
/etc/debian_release, /etc/debian_version,

Mandrake
/etc/mandrake-release

Yellow dog
/etc/yellowdog-release

Sun JDS
/etc/sun-release

Solaris/Sparc
/etc/release

Gentoo
/etc/gentoo-release

To boot up a program like Linux you need a disk with the operating system stored within it otherwise it doesn’t have the information to download the OS on the computer.

I would disconnect the LINUX hard drive and install Windows 2003 Server on the other HD. Once Windows 2003 is configured – disconnect that HD and boot into LINUX and make this change:

You need to add one line to lilo.conf specifying where the Windows 2003 boot files are located and run LILO when the changes are complete.

There are many resources out there which provide detailed instructions for doing this.

Don’t use the live CD method. Burn the cd set from one of the spins or use the network cd method.
You will need to find a server with the distribution tree for the release you chose.

Try the fedora forums for help first.
