There is a thing called a bereavement fare. Many but not all airlines offer one. You may be asked to give some type of proof but not usually. My experience is that these fares are not all that good and you would be better off to look for a cheaper ticket on the net. Good Luck in your search.

Question by prarydog: Are there programs that will pay for air fare to send volunteers to help Katrina rebuilding?
I’ve been looking online to see if there are relief programs out there that will either pay your air fare or reimburse you for air fare if you want to volunteer with the Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts, but I have not found any. I’d like to help, but cannot afford to fly out there from Oregon.

Go by bus or hitch-hike, then. No charitable organisation is going to waste its funds to fly you in – forget that, it will never happen.

Just a note for the next answerer – your aunt is a fairly senior paid employee of a government agency, whereas this asker just wishes to volunteer. Whilst your aunt is jetted here, there and everywhere, my comment above still stands. It is not right that you are building up false hopes for prarydog, who just wants to help. You have given a seriously misleading answer, based solely upon your misunderstanding of the reality of the situation. Think about it, please.

Question by chickacutie5: Is there really such a thing as a military discount for plane tickets?
I have different people telling me different things, I’m new to this. My fiance just joined and I just want him home for Christmas!

Yes. Different airliners have different discounts. Specific questions should be directed towards their customer service. Many of their discounts can be found on their websites as well.

Question by amanning493: Is there a web site that can find you a cheap flight to anywhere in the US based on price?
My wife and I love to fly. We have booked flights on Spirit Airlines from Detroit to Chicago for as low as $ 78 total! I would like to find a website that will have a list of flights but in order of cost. We do not care where we fly to, we just want two round trip ticketts for under $ 100. Can anyone think of a web site that does this? If not… someone should build a web site of last minnute flights to anywhere for really cheap. The airline should post them maybe even just a few hours before the flight leaves. I hope someone can help.

You can subscribe to different airline emails where they tell you on a Tuesday what cheap flights they have for the upcoming weekend. I subscribe to Delta’s weekend fare email where they send me on Tuesday what cities they have specials to for departure on Saturday, returning on Monday or Tuesday.
